Egypt coach Hector Cuper has called up 15 foreign-based players for the anticipated away 2018 World Cup qualifier against Uganda on 31 August.

The Pharaohs will meet the Cranes in Group E in the tournament’s third matchday at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.

The two nations will meet again on 5 September at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab stadium.

Topping Group E with six points, the Pharaohs are looking for a victory in the Ugandan capital to boost their qualification chances.

Egypt last made it to the World Cup in 1990 and hope to end their 28-year wait with an appearance in Russia next year.

The 15 players called up are:

Goalkeeper: Essam El-Hadary (Taawoun, Saudi)

Defenders: Ahmed Elmohamady (Aston Villa, England), Mohamed Abdel-Shafi (Ahly Jeddah, KSA), Ahmed Hegazy (West Bromwich, England), Omar Gaber (Basel, Switzerland), Karim Hafiz (Lens, France)

Midfielders: Mohamed Elneny (Arsenal, England), Mahmoud « Trezeguet » Hassan (Kasimpasa, Turkey), Sam Morsi (Wigan, England), Ramadan Sobhi (Stoke City, England)

Forwards:  Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, England), Ahmed Koka (Sporting Braga, Portugal), Mostafa Fathi (Taawoun, Saudi), Amr Warda (CD Feirense, Portugal)

Chelsea: Michael Essien back!

Michael Essien has returned to his former club, Chelsea this week. Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi met the Ghanaian legend at Cobham’s training ground on Wednesday. From 2005 to 2014, Michael Essien has worn the colors of Chelsea. The 34-year-old Ghanaian has played 256 games with the Blues for 24 goals scored. The midfielder has won several trophies including the Champions League and twice the Premier League. The Ghanaian is considered one of the legends of the club. And inevitably, his name still resonates at the Stamford Bridge. This week, the current Persib Bandung player made a courtesy visit to his former club. At the training center, he met the staff and the players. The Belgian Michy Batshuayi, happy with this meeting, was photographed with international international and social networks.

Cette semaine, l’actuel joueur de Persib Bandung a fait une visite de courtoisie dans son ancien club. Au centre d’entraînement, il a rencontré le personnel et les joueurs. Le Belge Michy Batshuayi, heureux de cette rencontre, s’est fait photographier avec l’international international et les réseaux sociaux.

2018 World Cup: CAF flies to the rescue of qualified nations!

As a prelude to the next World Cup, the Executive Committee of the African Football Confederation (CAF) has set up a commission to study the type of support that CAF could provide to the five African representatives qualified for the competition. 2018 World Cup finals in Russia, the African body said on Monday.

 

Chaired by the Ghanaian Kwesi Nyantaky, the said Commission will hold its first meeting on the sidelines of the draw for the World Cup scheduled for December 1 in Moscow. The commission also includes the Zambian Kalusha Bwalya as well as the presidents of the federations of Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia (African countries qualified for the world).

It should be recalled that, as one of the accompanying measures, the CAF Executive Committee accepted the complaint of the President of the Nigerian Football Federation to postpone the qualifying matches for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations. Nation that should be held in March 2018.
