Algeria give Mahrez permission to complete transfer

Riyad Mahrez wants out of Leicester City

The Algerian Football Association have given Leicester City winger, Riyad Mahrez to complete transfer on deadline day.

Earlier this summer transfer window, the 26-year-old submitted a transfer request to force an exit from the King Power Stadium.

And the forward has since been the subject of three failed offers from Italian Serie A giants, Roma.

That has been the situation with the Giallorossi having fallen short of the Foxes’ £50m valuation of Mahrez.

Mahrez is presently on international duty with Algeria prior to their Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on Saturday.

But in a statement which came out overnight, the country’s FA have now confirmed they have given him a temporary break.

And that his for Mahrez to sort out his club future on Thursday.

“Leicester City FC’s Algerian international Riyad Mahrez who is currently with the national team in Sidi-Moussa preparing for the games against Zambia in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers was authorized by national coach, Lucas Alcaraz and the Algerian Football Federation to make an express trip to Europe to formalize his transfer to his new club on Thursday,” it said.

“On Thursday morning, the squad will fly without him to Lusaka to face Zambia on Saturday at 15:00 local time (14:00 Algerian time).”

Arsenal have previously had transfer links with Mahrez and the Gunners could now return for him.

Roma back out of Mahrez pursuit

AS Roma have made a decision to back out of their pursuit of Leicester City winger, Riyad Mahrez this summer.

That is the latest development as the Giallorossi have finally withdrawn their interest in the Algerian international, according to reports.

The Serie A giants have been after the winger all through the summer transfer window which ends in two weeks.

They made a last offer for Mahrez which is in the region of £31.8m, leaving “the ball in Leicester’s court”.

Furthermore, Roma had reportedly set the Foxes a deadline of August 15 for the services of the want-away attacking player.

That is for the Serie A giants to get a reply over their club-record £31.8m bid for the Algerian star.

The Giallorossi have reportedly seen the Foxes knock back two offers in the region of £20m and £27m for Mahrez.

Roma have been chasing the pacy attacker all summer window after the 26-year-old confirmed that he wanted out of Leicester.

Mahrez stated at the end of the 2016/17 season that he wanted to depart the King Power Stadium this summer.

According to a concrete report emanating from Sky Sports News, Roma had also given Leicester a deadline over signing Mahrez.

The Italians insisted if they didn’t get a reply from Leicester’s owners by Tuesday midnight, they would drop their interest.

According to a valid report coming from Sky Sports News, however, Mahrez’s agent had been in serious talks with Roma.

That is in a strong effort to try and convince the Italian side to up their offer for his client.

According to, Roma have now decided to shift all of their focus on another attacking player.
