Gareth Bale and Romelu Lukaku were seen chatting after Manchester United beat Real Madrid on penalties recently, and the Welshman has now revealed what he told the new Red Devils striker.
Th Welshman featured in only the first half of the International Champions Cup clash, while Lukaku entered the pitch after half-time. However, after the game, the duo were seen catching up on the pitch in Santa Clara, California.
« I just wished him good luck for the season, » Bale said, as quoted by the Daily Star.
« He has just signed for them and I hope he has a great season. I am sure he knows all about the spotlight.
« He has been playing for long enough. He has done very well in the Premier League and I am sure he will do great for them. »
Bale struggled with injuries last season, and scored just nine goals and assisted another five strikes in 27 appearances for Los Blancos.
Overall, he has netted 67 times and set up another 51 goals for his teammates since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2013 for a then world-record fee of €101 million (R1.5 billion).
Lukaku, meanwhile, scored 87 goals in 166 appearances for Everton before completing an €84.7 million (R1.3 billion) move to Old Trafford earlier in this window.
