Cote d’Ivoire’s Wilfried Bony involved in an £8 million court case

Media reports in England indicate that Cote d’Ivoire and Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony is involved in an £8 million court case.

The BBC website reports that Bony will be the focus of a High Court case after the Swans were accused of paying £8m in secret commissions.

It is reported that the Elephants international claims that his two former football agents received under-the-table cash between 2013 and 2015.

The agents, Gilbert Kacou and Czech Dalibor Lacina, are now being sued alongside the club, for commissions in excess of £8m.

Although Swansea re-signed Bony this summer, the club says they have no dispute with him.

« The club can confirm that there is no ongoing legal dispute between Swansea City Football Club and Wilfried Bony, » a Swansea City spokesperson said.

It is understood Swansea are calm about the situation, believing any previous disputes around the case were resolved prior to Bony rejoining the club.

They believe the matter is now between Bony and his previous agents as the English Premier League side was not represented at a preliminary hearing at the High Court.

At the preliminary hearing, the agents tried to halt the litigation in Bony’s case against them, insisting the dispute had to be resolved behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, Judge Mark Pelling QC reportedly told the High Court that the agents received the money.

« The factual allegation is that, while ostensibly acting on his behalf in negotiations concerning his contract of employment with Swansea, (the agents and their companies) received secret commissions totalling in excess of £8m from the fifth defendant (Swansea City), » Pelling is quoted by the BBC.

Furthermore, Pelling pointed out that, although Mr Kacou is a registered football agent in the Ivory Coast, he is not an authorised agent as defined by the FA rules.

Ghana: Kwesi Appiah defends continued exclusion of Ayew brothers!

Published

on

In recent months, the Ghanaian selection has had bad results. Some players were ousted by the coach whose brothers Jordan and André Ayew. Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah defended the continued exclusion of the Black Stars Ayew brothers.

The 57-year-old tactician did not call Andrew and his younger brother, Jordan, because the duo was out of Ghana’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Congo-Brazzaville for injuries and illnesses .

André and Jordan, who play for England’s West Ham United and Swansea City, respectively, were also dismissed by Appiah when he played for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in 2013.

However, Appiah said in an interview with KweseESPN that he is simply doing what he thinks is in the best interest of the team.

« Someone I call, people will complain, it’s something I’m used to, » Appiah said. « There are so many players doing very well and there is no way I can call everyone. « .

The Black Stars endured a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign that saw the West African side fail to reserve its place in next year ‘s final.

« The most important thing is that I have to make good selections with those who are good for this team as the head coach, » he continued.

« And do not allow people to complain about influencing it. If I have to worry about it, I’ll call a hundred players.  »

It remains to be seen whether Appiah will remember the Ayew brothers before the CAN 2019 CAN qualifier against Kenya in October of next year.
